Website Design and Development, Launch December 2008
Challenge:
The previous site of the MHA had shallow navigation and over the years, new pages had been added to the site with little regard for the overall architecture. Many different authors and editing programs had rendered many of the pages useless and un-editable, and content was severely out of date.
Solution:
Starting from the ground up, Tobin Lehman held two architecture workshops with key decision makers to accurately define the site structure and goals before laying one line of code. Through this process, a custom content management system was recommended and is currently used to edit and control every aspect of the website. A clean crisp design paired with content widgets and components allows for the customization of every page of the site. Updates no longer take hours, just minutes. In addition, a custom event RSVP system is integrated into the calendar to allow for reservations to all MHA events.
Technologies:
This site was designed in Photoshop and implemented using W3C compliant HTML and CSS. JQuery accents animations and subsequent functionality. To control the content, a custom Content Management System was developed to administer the content throughout the site. PHP and MySQL were used in conjunction to develop the CMS, and the site is hosted by a third party.
